Art Classes & Workshops

All classes are structured for Adults and Children!

Art Appreciation - The Lost Tomb of Nebamun's

Dates: Thursdays - call for dates (4 sessions)
Ages: 16 & Up (Need 4 Students)
Cost: $55 + $10 for supplies. The center has other art supplies for purchase.
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Students will create a game from Egyptian times or create their own using materials found at the center. Students will create the board game, pieces to play with and write up instructions for the class to play.

They will learn about the paintings from the Lost Tomb of Nebamun and then paint their own story. If time permits, we will create a piece of jewelry called a collar that was worn by Nebamun's daughter (extra fee required).

The Eye recycles. If you have extra supplies to share with the group please bring what you have the day of the workshop or classes.

Art Appreciation - Games of the Worlds

Dates: Tuesday - call for dates (4 sessions)
Ages: 12 & Up (Limit 6 students)
Cost: $55
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This class is ideal for Home schooled students who need an Elective to graduate. Day time classes can also be arranged.

In this class students will research and construct a game (chosen by the instructor) using paper and card stock.

This will include game pieces, game board and game instructions. After completion of their personal game they will design and construct a game with their class mates.

Explore the Arts!

Explore drawing, painting, pottery, mixed media as well as other mediums. Classes are structured for the beginner as well as the more advanced student.

Dates & Times: Continuous; times and days are flexible to meet your needs. Evening as well as day classes are available
Age: 5 and up
Cost: $55 that includes supplies for 4 sessions. Some projects may require an additional fee.

The following is a list of just a few classes that are structured for jumping in at any time.

  • Connect the Dots for the Child in All of Us! This class teaches you to think outside the box when creating a piece of art.
  • Working with Shapes - Learn to use basic shapes (hearts, cylinders, etc.) to draw different subjects
  • Batik for the Beginner -This class is a fun way to work with various materials and watercolors.

We are continuously adding new mediums, if there is a medium that you would like to explore please let us know and we will try to make it happen.

Pottery! Explore the art of clay!

Dates & Times: Wednesdays Evenings & Saturday mornings.
Age: 5 and up
Cost: $55 (4 sessions + glazing time) plus $15 for a 25lb bag of clay and students will need to purchase tools or bring tools with them.

Students will learn the basics of coil, slab and pinch building and will receive instructions on projects for them to complete, but students are encouraged to sketch out ideas for projects they would like to work on.

Celebrate the Irish Class

Instructor: Virginia Maier
Day: Saturday (4 sessions)
Time: 10:00am-11:30am
Dates: 3/3/12 to 3/24/12
Cost: $60 for 4 sessions (ages 7-12) materials provided

Overview and Purpose (To learn about the culture and traditional crafts of Ireland and create your own versions, along with some fun St Patrick's Day crafts)

  • Lesson 1: 3/3/12 - Create an Irish weaving with raffia and yarn
  • Lesson 2: 3/10/12 – Learn about Irish Illumination manuscripts and create children's own name in the Illumination style. (In preparation for St Patrick's Day) creating Celtic knot greeting cards and water color clover cards.
  • Lesson 3: 3/17/12 – (To celebrate St Patrick's Day) create rainbow mobiles, Leprechaun hats, learn how to draw Celtic knots, and make a journal with a Celtic Potato Putty relief.
  • Lesson 4: 3/24/12- Create a Thatched-Roof cottage using recycled materials.

Discounts will be given for siblings (will consider younger siblings)

Minimum number of students is 2 and maximum number is 10.
